How the CRS score is built

CRS adds core human capital, spouse factors, skill transferability and additional points. Northway estimates each block the same way and checks FSW, CEC and FST gates.

Core points cover age, education, first/second official language and Canadian work. When a spouse accompanies you, some factors move into the spouse section and applicant caps adjust.

Skill transferability combines education, language and work. Additional points may include a sibling in Canada, Canadian education or strong French — always per current IRCC tables.

Common mistakes: treating the 600-point PNP boost as automatic; comparing Quebec Arrima scores to CRS; skipping the FSW 67-point grid. Your estimate is for comparing with historical cutoffs, not a promise of an invitation.

Scoring aligns with published IRCC CRS / program rules; cutoffs come from synced draw data.

Common questions

Is a CRS of 480 enough for Canada PR?
It depends on round type. General/CEC lines often sit above 480; some French or category rounds run lower. Use the draws board and CRS score pages against history rather than a single number.
CRS vs the FSW 67-point grid?
CRS ranks you in the pool; the 67-point grid is an FSW eligibility screen. You can pass 67 with a modest CRS, or the reverse. Northway calculates both.
How much can French add?
Strong French can add CRS points and may open French-category rounds. Exact points depend on your English/French combination and which language is first — follow current IRCC tables.
